Quick update

Kelly & John met with Dr Benton this morning. He said that in listening to the ultrasound report he thinks that Max's need for a shunt is probable. He said that the ultrasound showed that the ventricles in Max's brain are still enlarged I guess indicating that there is still a back up of his spinal fluid. He said that this is just his impression and that it will be Dr Burson's decision. Please pray for Kelly & John as they meet with Dr Burson today. Please pray they will have peace and understanding and that Dr Burson will have wisdom as he makes decisions for Max's plan of care. Please continue to pray that if the shunt is needed that it will be placed without difficulty and that Max will recover quickly and without complication. If Max needs a shunt, thank you God that it is available to him.

We keep praying,
Karie

I have been following Max's progress since finding your sight through a blog of a blog of a blog kind-of thing. But, I am a believer in prayer, so maybe I found this blog through God's path. I am so glad that a PT told you to take the therapist's words with a grain of salt. I was APPALLED as an occupational therapist to hear that someone from my profession said something like that. first of all, NO therapist should have ever spoken as if they were the final authority. and, it is WAY TOO SOON to make any calls about max's muscle tone. i would actually say that low muscle tone would be a good sign of a "typical" baby who had been sedated/in the NICU since birth. high muscle tone would be more indicative of cerebral palsy. again, i am just one therapist, i have never met max, etc etc etc. BUT, i did want to say that i am praying for max. and to say that i almost commented on the post when you wrote what the therapist said, but thought that as a stranger, i should probably just keep praying but stay out of it. on a side note, i think that a supervisor needs to be told about john and kelly's experience with the PT. she doesn't need to upset another family like she did yours. thanks for the frequent updates!

Every morning on my way past Baptist to UAMS I tell Max "Good Morning", to have a good day and grow big and strong in body and mind and say a prayer. On the way home I tell him "Hi" and to have a good night and say another prayer. I feel like we know this baby so well already and love him and his family so much! Sue Phillips

Wow - it's amazing to hear about people like Kelly (from the first comment on this post) who don't even know the Julian family but is praying and actually has knowledge and experience in physical therapy! We are praying that if a shunt is needed that it will help Max to heal as quickly as possible. It is such a blessing that there are medical interventions like this to help in times of need...

John and Kelly,
We continue to pray for Max and for the both of you. I know that listening to different doctors and medical professionals is hard to do, especially if their opinions are conflicting. The only thing you can do is put your faith in God and know that he is in control. When everything else seems out of control, He never is. He will take care of Max and He will guide these doctors in doing the very best for him. Just as He gave Max to you because you are the very best parents. I truly believe that God has a special plan for Max, just as he does for all of us. You all are so loved and there are so many people lifting your family up in prayer. We love you so very much!

I was made aware of this blog through Tennessee Association of Realtors. I justed wanted to let the family know that I am praying for baby Max and his parents and all family members. I do believe that through prayer all things are possible. I always keep in mind that God does not give us struggles that we can not handle and when we are looking down and see only one set of foot prints it is only because he is carrying us through those hard times. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with the Julian family and baby Max.

One of my favorite verses is Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen."

Bryan and I continue to pray for Max and the whole family.

In Him,
Sarah

My family continues to keep Max and your entire family in our prayers. I did want to mention that my husband's niece was a twin born several months premature with complications and she was correctly diagnosed with hypotonia (low muscle tone.) She has had some physical therapy over the years and she is now a very happy, energetic, and perfectly normal (almost too intelligent, I might add) 9 year old enjoying every minute of running, jumping, playing, and everything else life has to offer. Just keep thinking positive thoughts. I just know baby Max is going to bring so much joy into the world.
