Therapist & Dr Burson evaluation

The physical therapist came and evaluated Max this morning. She said that he has slightly low muscle tone. She told Kelly& John that this indicates that something neurological has been damaged. She also told them that usually it is not improved with therapy. We are not sure what this means for Max's future and how it will affect him. Please pray that through his exercises and stretches he will be able to compensate and his muscle tone will improve. She did not feel that aggressive therapy is needed at this point. Kelly & John are to continue doing his exercises and stretches and she will continue to come evaluate Max.

Dr Burson came to see Max this morning. He said that in feeling his fontanels not much has changed. However, before making any decisions about a shunt, he has ordered an ultrasound. Kelly doesn't anticipate hearing any results from that until tomorrow. She is not sure what time the u/s will get done today. Please pray that the ultrasound will find that the fluid is draining as it should and that a shunt will not be needed. Please continue to pray for Dr Burson, that he will have wisdom and clarity of mind as he interprets the ultrasound results and decides Max's plan of care.

Max's blood sugar was 58 during the night. As of now they are going to keep him at 24cal/feeding. They will decrease it if his sugar remains above 60.

Kelly sounded pretty tired today. Please continue to pray that she and John will be able to sleep soundly and that the rest that they get will be sufficient for them to get through today.

We keep praying,
Karie

Hey John and Kelly, we are still here praying along with you--patiently waiting as God reveals his will for Max. We are in awe of how the Lord is working, and believe He will continue to work in Max's life and the lives of all those around him. We are not discouraged by this news--we have seen Max beat the odds, and we just believe that he will continue to do so. There are forces that want us all to waver and give up, but we won't--we will continue to believe that God can do all things.
Our love and peace to you,
Jenni Chism

Kelly and John,
I have enjoyed the pictures of the three of you. I will continue to pray that Max's muscle tone will improve and that the ultrasound will find that Max's body is taking care of the fluid. I believe in the power of prayer and I know that Max will continue to improve. I hope you all will rest and feel renewed tomorrow.

We are continuing to pray for your sweet baby boy. Max is definitely being brought before our Father so many times during the day. How encouraging it must be to know that God knows his name and is wrapping His arms around Max throughout the day and night. God is a healer and miracle worker and will not let Satan get in His way! We love you all!

John and Kelly, we are praying for rest and peace for the two of you. May you feel God's presence in every minute of your day. May you receive the gift of His peaceful rest during your night. We love you all.

Dear John and Kelly, I have brought Max and your family at every bible study or prayer group I have been a part of recently, and they all already know about Max! The word has been spread and people are praying, even those who don't even know your family. God is hearing about him all day long and from all over the world. I love you all! Praying for you daily,
Brooke

Kelly, You have been in my thoughts so much lately and I want you to know that my family has been through a similar situation with my nephew having blood on his brain when he was born. After many prayers, he is now a perfectly healthy 3 year old and has had no problems again since he was a month old. So stay strong and hang in there!! It sure is awesome to read Max's blog and to see his loving family and their friends surrond him with so much love and to see their great faith in God. It shows so much of how great parents you & John will be to Max b/c of how you have surrounded your life in God. My daughter, Morgan (2 yrs old), prays each day for little baby Max and she holds her hands like she is holding a small baby when she is telling God she hopes he feels better. We all will keep praying in Nashville and wish you rest & peace.
